This past week I decided to be a glutton for punishment and took a running tour of Basel. I even jogged 30 mins each of the 2 days before hand just to make sure I didn’t die. It was great!
We ran through winding Basel streets
and across bridges…
to the other side of the river Rhine.
I filled up my water bottle at a few of the city’s hundreds of fountains – gotta love the Alps!
We ran past markets where I bought some spectacular olives seasoned with garlic, lemon and dill
And did I mention there were lots of fountains?
This one was more of an installation and moves! Apparently they leave it on even in winter and it’s very pretty when iced over.
At the end of the hour and fifteen minute run, my legs were refusing to take orders from my brain. So I read by the Rhine for a few hours waiting for my legs to stop feeling like Jello and then went to watch the Argentina-Germany world cup match at a bar near my apartment. I tried to order a Heffeweisen but because they speak Swiss German here in Basel and I do not, I ended up with a shandy instead. Happy mistake!
Argentina lost. Booooo. At least Spain beat Germany. Anyway, to drown my sorrows I ate some Bratwurst, and all was right with the world again.
The End.
