Yummy Swiss Food #1: Do you fondue?

Cheese Fondue at Walliser Kanne in Basel’s Altstadt (old city).

It was everything I hoped it could be and more! Consumed with gusto by dipping in chunks of deliciously chewy bread.

Thank goodness restaurants are insanely expensive here (it’s almost impossible to find a place other than fast food that is less than 18 Swiss Franks – or 19 USD – for an entree) otherwise my cholesterol (not to mention my waistline) would triple in a single month. We had an awesome server, Roland, who gave my Mom a pin off his vest just because she admired it (it featured a drawing of the outline of Switzerland with a picture of a mustache inside). MAN this stuff is good…

About Petunia

She wore rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes And I knew without asking she was into the blues She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls I knew right away she was not like other girls ~The Grateful Dead
