Wau will be shaped like a giraffe with the sewage treatment plant conveniently placed under its tail and Yambio will be shaped like a pineapple. How welcoming. I want to live in whatever city ends up being shaped like a goat!

Who comes up with these ideas? I’ll grant that its whimsical and therefore appealing to me in a way, but it just seems like another way that billions of Euros or Dollars or whatever will get “lost”.

Exactly. I posted this very hastily without thinking it through, and have some more thoughts 🙂
On the one hand the cities absolutely need to be planned because there is a huge issue with land ownership, and why not be creative with it? In Juba people moved to the city and initially built their houses anywhere they pleased because there was no way to manage all influx of people. All they did a couple years later was to bulldoze entire neighborhoods because there was supposed to be a road or building or hospital somewhere. Now all those lots are just empty. They did not notify people in advance, compensate people for property destroyed or have anywhere else for them to go. It would be horrible to have the same thing that happened in Juba happen again all over the country.
On the other hand, $10 billion for this? Seriously?
